With last weekend witnessing one of the most eventful boat races in it’s history, the disappointment felt by members of the Oxford University boat race team was there for the 6 million TV audience to see.
I was fortunate to be able to go to the Oxford training camp in Putney to get a small taste of the build up the team goes through, as well as the sacrifices an oarsman has to make in order to make the final squad.
With the Trenton Oldfield and the Elitism argument laid to one side, the boat race is and will continue to be a unique clash of elite rowers for a prize steeped in tradition. However many will be wondering how the outcome could have been different.
Their interviews were played out on BBC Radio Oxford 95.2 fm and I will hopefully bring you their reaction to what was memorable defeat for the OUBC.
Zoe has since told the Daily Mail she believed the event should have been re-rowed after the broken oar.
